Weekend Live Music Roundup: Buyi turns fifteen, British folk turner and New York songbird
On Saturday, the long-standing Chinese indie rock band Buyi turn fifteen-year-old at The Star Live, with the comeback of their bassist Lin Na (who's currently breastfeeding her baby, according to other Buyi members). Then the celebration continues on the grass of 2 Kolegas on Sunday afternoon, with chuan'er, beer and all that summer breeze smells like mud.
British folk rock singer-songwriter Frank Turner plays at D-22 on Saturday with former Joyside's frontman Bian Yuan's folk project The Lone, while New York takes other sides of the town with long-term Beijing resident Jess Meider singing her storytelling acoustic materials at The Orchard (Friday) and The Bookworm (Saturday). Also, it seems musicians from Shanghai are particularly interested in coming to Beijing this month, as experimental rockers Boojii and Duck Fight Goose play at D-22 tonight - is it the warm weather (unlikely) or the Expo? I have no idea.
