Inspiring Beijing Pianist wins China's Got Talent

Beijinger Liu Wei has been making international headlines after coming away with the championship in China’s Got Talent. Liu’s fame is due less to his win, and more for his talent. As an armless piano player his performances have been described as everything from courageous to inspirational.

Liu Wei lost his arms at the age of 10 from a high-voltage accident during a simple game of hide-and-seek. At 19 he taught himself to play the piano with his feet and began composing and producing his own music. Even, prior to China’s Got Talent Liu collaborated with Hong Kong pop star Andy Lau.

Following his win Liu was invited on a world tour that includes several months in Las Vegas. He is also expected to get a contract with Fremantle Media and Sony Music Entertainment.

Despite his win and his handicap Liu has demonstrated an astonishing level of confidence and sensibility. He responded in interview to his condition with the straight-forward response, “I really do not care how people regard me. It is enough for me to do the things I like. When other people express their regret and sorrow because I lost both arms, I can tell them confidently that I have perfect feet”.
