A Bar to Get Married In: Yan Club in the Kunlun
Yan Club carries many of the hallmarks of a hotel bar. Firstly, it’s in a hotel. It has the look, with contrasting design elements – leather seats, dangling beads, glowing panels of light – creating the requisite “contemporary” elegance. The otherwise enjoyable house band even throws in the odd rendition of “Moon River.”
However, Yan is actually managed independently of the Kunlun, and it’s possible to forget you’re in a hotel here.
The drinks are good and strong – most are around RMB 40-80 – and the 15 percent service charge is waived after 8pm. Girls drink for free from 9pm-midnight on Wednesdays.
There are numerous private lounges, but best of all is the garden, which will be ideal for events next summer. Of all this month’s new bars, this is the one you’re most likely to get married at.
Good for: Weddings, other outdoor events
Also try: China Bar, Lan Club
