Get Fresh: Healthy Eats at Backyard Cafe

This neat, peaceful café offers an alternative to nearby Panino Teca for embassy staff and health freaks. Every item reflects the health-conscious philosophy of the Chinese owner, who studied nutrition in Canada for six years.

Simply tossed with olive oil, black pepper and dried basil, the well-balanced baked vegetables (RMB 29) ought to satisfy a medium-sized lady. Sandwiches come wrapped in whole wheat bread – rustic and fluffy. The apple tuna sandwich
(RMB 29) with black olive, celery chunks and low-fat mayo is packed with antioxidants; for something more filling, try the mustard-seasoned chicken sandwich (RMB 29). Snack on eggy spinach frittata (RMB 23) or gluten-rich whole wheat muffins (RMB 6) while relaxing on the terrace. Wash all that goodness down with a flaxseed smoothie (RMB 23).

Yes I've been there a few times, very nice coffee/bar, the owner A Canadian/Chinese seems to be focused on healthy products. The staff is also nice and very friendly.

I liked the place so much that I had my wine tasting event there last week.

It's worth while visiting the place, I highly recommend it.
