The Beijinger Beer Festival 2011: Introducing the Beers - Part 3

Tickets are now on sale for the Beijinger Beer Festival, which takes place at Villa Castanea on Saturday, July 23. There will be 34 beers there for the sampling, thanks to local producers and suppliers Great Leap Brewery, Heineken, Vandergeeten, DXcel and Villa Castanea. Beer lovers will also be pleased to hear that there will be talks, including one from Carl at Great Leap on brewing your own beer.

To make a day of it we’ve also signed up local bands and DJs to play for you all day – Patrick Yu, Usami, Nassdak and Bitesize Buddha will man the decks while Ajinai and the Randy Abel Stable take to the stage. We’ll be telling you more about the bands later on but now it’s time to focus on the most important aspect of the day, the beer:

Tiger (Singapore) ABV 5.0% – Heineken tent
“Singapore's most well-known export is an ideal summer tipple”
Danshan Wheat (China) ABV 5.0% – Great Leap Brewery tent
“Infused with Oolong green tea for a light, local and refreshing taste”

Estrella Damm (Spain) ABV 4.6% – DXcel tent
“The Catalans have produced a pilsner that is a notch above their fellow countrymen's efforts”

Chimay (Belgium) ABV 7.0% – Vandergeeten tent
“The monks behind this hefty malt beer made it pack a punch”

Jade (France) ABV 4.6% – Vandergeeten tent
“France's first organic beer has a resplendent grassy flavour”

Sagres (Portugal) ABV 5.0% – DXcel tent
“Portugal's top-seller is a charming, well-rounded lager with a crisp finish”

Castelain Ch'ti Tripel (France) ABV 7.5% – Vandergeeten tent
“Stronger than the beers that the French are commonly known for, this is an award-winning gem”

Pure Blonde (Australia) ABV 4.6% – DXcel tent
“A drinkable lager with the benefit of being dramatically lower in carbs than its competitors”

We’ll have one more beer roundup for you early next week. If you can't wait then you can guess from the logos at the bottom of this post.

Want to get in on the action? Tickets are RMB 100, which includes five free beer samples, transport to and from the festival, and other goodies.
