Nice Cans, Rotarians! Rotaract Charity Food Drive this Sunday
Good morning students! Here's an early-morning pop quiz for you. The photo above is a depiction of:
a) Y2.011K food hoarding
b) Mass purchase of rice due to rice weevil infestations in Dongbei
c) Students picking up their tuangou (just about to pick up those instant noodles now!)
d) The fruits of Rotaract Beijing's 2010 Food Collection Drive
e) All of the above
If you answered e), go get some more coffee. If you answered a), b) or c), you need to reassess your reading material. It is indeed a picture of Rotaract Beijing's 2010 charity food drive for orphans, and this Sunday Nov 27, they're going to do it again.
This year, all food collected will again go to Guang Ai orphanage, to tide them over through the difficult winter. The best way to help, of course, is to drop into one of the four participating Carrefour stores (listed below), and buy a truckload of supplies. Last year, they collected four Jinbeis full of food, and they hope to double that number this year. Some of the major items they're looking for are rice, cooking oil and flour.
Alternatively, if you're interested in helping these guys out with volunteering on the day, please email them ASAP with:
+ What time you could help (either 10am-12.30pm or noon-3pm Sunday)
+ Your mobile number
+ Number of volunteers you can muster
Email the leader in charge of your desired store directly - so don't email the nice Ciyunsi guy if you'd like to help out at Zhongguancun. That's just silly. Check here for maps and addresses of stores. Here are those all important email addresses:
