JUE Next Gen Photo Competition: Win 10,000 Kuai!
As always we are excited to see what the annual JUE Music + Art Festival has lined up for us in March. Now in its fourth year, this collection of events (many of which have already been posted in our listings) aims to bring together artists from all over the world to celebrate our local creative community.
We already gave you a heads up about the OSPOP Photography Competition in last week’s Art Attack post, but here are more details on how to win that grand prize of 10,000 kuai.
2012 seems to be bringing bigger collaborations and performances than ever before. OSPOP recently announced that it has teamed up with JUE for one of their signature events: the NEXT GEN Photography Competition. According to founder Ben Walters, his Shanghai-based brand’s redesigned canvas bags and sneakers draw influence from the dress style of China’s working class.
In honor of that spirit, this year’s competition is built around the theme: “What’s your vision of work?”
The press release reads: “All China-based photographers, whether professional or passionate hobbyist, are invited to submit their ‘work’-themed photos. Entries can be uploaded to the official competition website and should be received no later than March 3rd for prize consideration.”
The grand prize is RMB 10,000 for the winner and RMB 3,000 for the runner-up. The public is invited to vote on their favorites, and while the popular vote won’t win money, it will be given a “People’s Choice Award” along with exclusive prizes from OSPOP.
A panel of select judges will vote on the 15 finalist photos, which will be exhibited at Shanghai’s Central Studios from March 9-23. Expect a glamorous closing party as well, with details to come in the next few weeks.
