New Clothes for Christmas: Parkview Green Sets Up Shops
Christmas is just a stone’s throw away. How do we know? Well, office discussions are turning to the prospect of this year’s secret Santa and gift exchanges. Of course, for those attending any holiday bashes this December, there inevitably lies one major hurdle before us, that age-old dilemma ... what to wear? Fear not, because we’re bringing you a selection of the finest new stores that Parkview Green has to offer. With a range of styles and price ranges to choose from, you certainly won’t be stuck for something to wear this festive season.
American Apparel
The American Apparel flagship has opened its doors in Parkview Green. And if the sheer enormity of the new store doesn't get you going, then the inexpensive offerings surely will. Proudly “sweatshop-free” and known for its political activism, American Apparel embraces forward-thinking fashion that focuses on individuality. The winter collection boasts masses of personality with enough color to get you through the dreariest winter days. My personal favorites include a red hooded cape fit for Little Red Riding Hood (RMB 630) and a double V-neck mini-dress (RMB 405). And for the men, fleece-lined hoodies (RMB 470) will keep you snug as a bug this winter.

COS Collection of Style
COS may be owned by the same company as H&M, but their designs are certainly more mature, though admittedly more expensive. Having said that, their prices are among the cheapest that Parkview Green has to offer, which make a trip to the high-end mall more than justifiable. Browsing the endless racks of garments, it quickly becomes apparent that COS has struck the perfect balance between comfort and style. The store is a blanket of autumnal and winter colors and heavy fabrics. Ladies, wrap up in an oversized cardigan (RMB 690) or envelop yourself in a jersey dress (RMB 990). Thick knits and woolly jumpers also abound in the men’s section, where the selection of garments will easily take you between home and the office. Look out for the soft knit hooded jumper (RMB 1,350). COS also offers a colorful variety of children’s fashion that provides a nice contrast to the mellow adult selection.

Karen Millen
Karen Millen. Ooh, even the words give me prickles of excitement, though I’m not quite sure my boyfriend (or his wallet) would agree. This British brand really is a one-stop shop when it comes to kitting yourself out for any special event, and it has served me well on more than one occasion. Already added to my Christmas wish list are a silver and grey paneled evening dress (RMB 2,600), and a beautifully understated black sequined blouse (RMB 2,050). And, for the day after the night before, a knee-length jersey dress (RMB 1,800) strikes the perfect balance between classy and comfy. With Christmas waiting just around the corner, it might just prove too difficult (for me) to resist what’s on display.

Tadashi Shoji
As I entered the store, my eyes were instantly drawn to a delicate purple-flowered train gown. Designed exclusively for the Beijing store, the gown is quite literally one-of-a-kind, a blend of buds sewn together in a creation that merits the use of the word 'exquisite'. Considering that it sells for RMB 188,000, most of might as well call it priceless as well. As you walk further into the store, you’ll notice the gowns hung along either wall, framing a runway that begs to be walked down. Brides-to-be may want to look out for the bridal section at the back of the store which, though small, consists of a good range of wedding dresses. With prices ranging from RMB 6,800 upward, Tadashi Shoji is certainly one for the most special occasions, but buyers are left in no doubt of the distinct quality and unique appeal of these garments.
