Community Matters: The Funny Guys in Town

There are a nice variety of community events happening over the next few days. Blue Frog's Indigo branch is serving Punchline Comedy’s latest concoction tonight with performances by Jeff Green, Geoff Boyz and Alan Francis. These comedians are pros so get your friends or colleagues out for a solid round of burgers and laughs. LumDimSum rounded up some great reviews of the performers:

English stand-up star Jeff Green has been called a “National Treasure” (Daily Mirror) and “The funniest stand-up in Britian” (The Sun)...Scottish comedian and impressionist, Geoff Boyz “has established himself as one of the most versatile comedians on the circuit” (ID Magazine). His impersonations of Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci are hilarious...Writer Alan Francis co-authored and co-starred in the successful play Jeffrey Dahmer is Unwell at the 1995 Edinburgh Festival premier. In 1991, he won the Edinburgh Festival Fringe newcomer contest “So You Think You’re Funny.”

Also tonight, Philippa Nelson from The Starfish Project will be speaking at an FYSE workshop. The Starfish Project aims to make a difference for women exploited by the sex trade by helping them find counseling and legitimate employment. It will be interesting to hear how the organization turned their social work into a profitable business.

Thursday is this month’s Irish Network’s social night. Anyone is welcome to come fraternize over a free keg of Murphy’s. The stout will be dolled out to the early birds so don’t be late.

And Friday morning, learn to get your taxes sorted. This is for US citizens. Getting your taxes done abroad, if you do them at all, can be confusing and frustrating. This course from Hutson Associates will tell you how to do those taxes properly with some bonus strategy tips.
