The Joy of Six: Beihai North
This month, we’ve checked out all the stops on Line 6 to tell you about the gems that you shouldn’t wait to discover in our station-by-station Going Underground special.
SELLING POINT
Most alight here for a stroll through Beihai or water sports on
Houhai (Exit B), but there’s plenty more offerings for the active-minded.
PLAY
Stock up on equipment along Di’anmen Donglu (Exit D), a promenade
of sporting goods stores that will cover all your tennis,
snowboarding, basketball and table tennis needs.
FIGHT
Get yourself into fighting form with fatigues and other US combat
wear at several camo-heavy outlets or a dobok at one of the many
martial arts store. You can put the latter uniform to use by enrolling
in classes at the nearby Shichahai Sports School (Exit B). If
you’d rather skip the pricey tuition, then find a student willing to
offer private instruction.
WINCE
If all that activity starts catching up with your body, you’re in
the right place. Directly outside Exit D is the prestigious Peking
University First Hospital, where you’ll find treatment for all that
ails you. And if you just need some TCM to set your body right,
drop into historical pharmacy Beijing Tongrentang (Exit A).
