Talking Pints: Spoiled for Choice on Saturday
Welcome to an experimentally early edition of Talking Pints. One event dominates the nightscape this weekend as INTRO 2013 prepares for a reboot at Capital Steel Factory. But this weekend could just as easily be notable for the UEFA Champions League Final which comes around in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Or perhaps you've been waiting on The Warriors event? No? Maybe, like me, you've just been waiting for the Wet T-shirt Contest at Juicy. Whatever the highlight of your weekend is, it's almost here.
INTRO should be great, as usual. As you may have read at the top of this page, there will be 4 stages, 50 artists, 10,000 people across 50,000 square metres. And loads and loads of fun. Wear comfy shoes, cause there's a long night of jiving ahead. All your favorites will be in attendance, including Mickey Zhang, Weng Weng, YangBing, OuYang, and Patrick Yu among a host of others.
The Warriors event should be fun, too. Vying for territories, teams face a bunch of boozy challenges to defend their patch.
And who won't be watching the showpiece football event of the season? An all-German final sees Bayern Munich take on Borussia Dortmund on Saturday night/Sunday morning (2.45am). Most places still open should have it on, but some are laying on a little something special to mark the great occasion. More details here.
Word reaches us that the diminutive Panda Brew Pub is set to open up a second space in the coming days along Dongsi Batiao. It might even be open by this weekend. As Slow Boat's Chandler Jurinka quipped, perhaps that area could soon become known as "Dongsi Beertiao."
To some good stuff to do:
- Check out Jimmy Edgar at Dada on Friday night (May 24).
- Natural Flavor: Notorious B.I.G. Tribute Party tomorrow night (May 24) at Lantern will be off da hook. Stop by to big up Biggie.
- Siif hosts a barbecue DJ party on Saturday (May 25) – gotta love summer.
Check out what else is happening here.
Mere mention of the man meant I was compelled to give it a spin. I listened to this, it's great:
Whatever you wind up doing this weekend, have a great one.
