Weekend Getaway: On the Farm with Fatface 24

Not even a year old, Fatface Dining always seems to be up to something – whether it's their involvement with BarCamp, organizing FoodCamp, speaking at C!Talk, or any of the various dinners and brunches they've catered. They're continuing to pick up speed and their latest project is Fatface 24.

Fatface 24 is a weekend away (this Saturday and Sunday), up to Liuzhuanghu Village on the outskirts of Beijing in Shunyi. They've partnered with Shared Harvest, an organic farm founded by Dr. Shi Yan, a major figure in the CSA (community-supported agriculture) movement here in China.

You'll get to spend the weekend outdoors (the forecast looks beautiful – sunny and clear, though hot), pick your own vegetables and then eat and eat and eat. If manual labor to feed yourself doesn't sound appealing enough on its own, the added rural charm should help; apparently, the folks at Fatface tell us, the village has been named "The Most Beautiful Village" by the Beijing Municipal Government. Sounds vague, but I'll let myself be convinced.

In seriousness, it looks to be a great weekend for those looking for something a little different than the average Saturday night meal out and a drink at a bar. See the itinerary below:
