This Week in Food: Pizza Express, New Wagas and a New Option for Buffet Lovers
UK-based pizza chain Pizza Express is set to open in Taikoo Li South this Thursday. Check out some of our photos from when we stopped by on Sunday night for a sneak preview.
We happened to call by Raffles City Dongzhimen the other day and noticed that hoardings have gone up for a new Wagas in the ground floor space formerly occupied by Haagen-Dazs. No promised opening date as yet, but we'll be back with an update as soon as we hear more.
Now that the weather is heating up, our thoughts are increasingly turning to how quickly we can get our next ice cream fix. Luckily for CBD-dwellers, Beijing-based ViVi Dolce gelato is now available at CC Sweets in Central Park, with two new flavors available exclusively in store: chilli chocolate, and coconut and sake. Sign up for their WeChat (in Chinese) at vividolce to get a coupon for 15% off in store (until June 20).
Also in the CBD, Aroma at the Ritz Carlton have revamped their dinner buffet, moving with the trend of offering a la carte mains alongside a starter and dessert buffet. A quick glance at the main courses suggests the usual selection of pricey imported meats and seafood. The dinner comes in at RMB 386 (plus 15% service charge), with the option to add unlimited local beer and imported wines for RMB 120.
Finally, if you're more the type to be in the kitchen than the dining room, Factory by SALT have a couple of events coming up this week. Get the kids involved with a 'Cupcake Madness' class this Saturday (May 31) or refine your culinary skills with a series of master classes taught by Factory's Executive Chef Camila Betin, starting next Monday (June 2).
