Nova Heart Soundtracked on Hemlock Grove, Temple Three Year Anniversary, Tonight's Raw Meat

Big weekend in Gulou with the Temple Bar three year anniversary kicking off tonight. Can you believe it’s been three years? I bet everyone who actually attends this space on a regular basis has aged twice that, with their dangerous selection of shots and loaded hamburgers.

Regardless, there will be a lot of time warping going on this week, with a loaded schedule of bands and drink specials for you to wrap your mouth around. Make sure to get there early because before 10pm, it’s all you can drink sangria, Beijing/Kirin Draft for RMB 100. Find more info here on who’s playing on each night. Tonight (July 24), following the hard rock, yours truly will be on the DJ decks with Compact Dicks, playing all of those timeless party tunes only a mother could love.

Also tonight, head downstairs from Temple to Dada for an evening of deep electronica with Frank Blood’s Raw Meat night. It will feature some very special live performances from Feldermelder (Hula Honeys), thruoutin, and Puzzy_Stack.

For those of you who don’t know, Feldermelder is a Swiss electronic magician of sorts, that utilizes a menagerie of instruments and computer software to create intricate evolving loops of synthetic and found sounds. If that sounds complicated, that’s because it is.

We are also pleased to report that local starlet Helen Feng, and her Nova Heart just landed one of their hot tracks on the Netflix original series Hemlock Grove. This Twilight meets Twin Peaks, with a little bit of Frank Henenlotter in the mix, is showcasing the track My Song 9 in their second season. Way to hustle and flow that shit on pseudo mainstream media outlets. It's a really impressive song, and it totally fits the haunted, poisonous vibes of this popular Netflix series.

You can also expect more from Nova Heart in the near future with a new song about to be leaked, and an EP in the works. Keep up the great work, and may the fruits of your tireless labor be sweet and bountiful.

Finally, NEEMIC is teaming up with THRIFT to bring you a quality collection of secondhand clothing for some bargain shopping action. Clear your conscience, recycle, promote a sustainable lifestyle, and help out a local musician, Fennie, who was recently hospitalized with a worsening heart condition. All proceeds from the event go to Fennie and the remaining items are donated to charity. Clothes, books and other items welcome. Free. 5pm. Dandelion Coffee House. Read more
