Incredible India: Embark on The Hutong's Indian Culinary Expedition

Having lived in India in 2006-2007, I have been desperately searching for a reason to go back ever since, so when I heard about The Hutong's Indian Culinary Expedition I was one of the first to put my name down. Led by chef Reshma Khan, who grew up in the multicultural metropolis of Mumbai (and also happens to be quite the history buff), the tour promises to take you on a culinary odyssey through India's diverse cuisines, while also taking in must-see landmarks and unique cultural experiences.

The tour runs from February 14 to March 8, 2015 (during the Chinese New Year vacation) and is split into two parts: 11 days in north India for phase one and 11 days in south India for phase two

The first part of the tour takes in the majestic sights and royal cuisine of north India, starting in Delhi and travelling to Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur. Yes, you'll see the Taj Mahal, but you'll also eat in some of Delhi's oldest restaurants and volunteer in a community kitchen.

Phase two of the trip starts in frenetic Mumbai, before slowing down the pace in Kerala with a couple of days in the capital Kochi, a stay on a houseboat in Alleppey and a spice plantation visit in Thekkady. The tour finishes up in Goa, where you have the option to stay on for some more well-earned beach time. Food-wise, you'll be able to shop for fresh spices and sample south India's famed coconut-based cuisine.
