The Tea Silk Road to Wall Street: Rechenberg's Collection Is Hot Right Now

If the weather hasn't helped us in recent days, it might be time to look to Kathrin von Rechenberg's newly launched A/W 2014 womenswear collection for signs of warmth.

Rechenberg recently made headlines in The Wall Street Journal for her twist on an ancient method of dying fabric, tea silk. When she came to China in 2000, only a few producers could still make the special, almost leather-like silk, and she has revived it in the form of haute couture pieces that are tailored for the wearer in her studio. Just last week, the designer launched her AW 2014 collection, where the silk is combined with cozy wool and cashmere for nature-themed prints.

The runway in her intimate studio last week welcomed crepe-textured tunics, high-waisted, slim, wool-silk pants, and stunning, wrap dresses in fall shades of plum, stone, rust, moss, and the textured browns and blacks of tree bark.

We liked the elegand cowl neck blouses, batwing sleeves and her signature, assymetrical cuts. The entire collection had a balanced mix of office-appropriate blazers and luxurious dresses, but the highlight was the stunning floor-length, double-faced coats, the staple for a glamorous, yet cozy winter in the city.
