Savor France with Goût de France / Good France on March 19

On Thursday March 19, thousands of chefs around the world will come together for one of the biggest ever celebrations of French gastronomy, the Goût de France / Good France project.

A joint initiative led by masterchef Alain Ducasse and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, the project features more than 1,000 French chefs across five continents, simultaneously cooking dinner at participating restaurants. It's an ambitious project and one that is sure to draw a lot of interest. The project not only aims to promote France's rich culinary heritage and its exceptional produce, but also show that French cuisine can be accessible whatever your tastes or budget it's not all about fine dining. The French embassy in Beijing hope that the event will encourage Chinese diners and chefs to re-explore their conception of French cuisine.

It will also act as a platform to showcase French luxury brands like Sèvres porcelainSaint-Louis crystal ware, and Moët & Chandon, for which there is a growing demand among wealthy Chinese.

A number of restaurants in Beijing will be offering special menus just for the occasion. The menus must follow the traditional French pattern, including a cold starter, a hot starter, a fish course, a meat course, a cheese course and ending with dessert. They are also encouraged to make use of local and seasonal produce wherever possible. The restaurants are split up into three categories Bistrot, Modern Cuisine, and Fine Dining so there is something for everyone, whatever their budget.

Restaurants taking part in Beijing include Brasserie Flo, 29 Grill, and Heritage (Fine Dining); Jaan and Petrus (Modern Cuisine); and O'Steak and Le Cabernet (Bistro). View the full list on the Goût de France / Good France project website.

Contact the restaurants directly for more details about booking, but be sure to secure your place early, this event is sure to be a hit with French food fans.
