EAT: Brunch at Bistrot B, Awfully Chocolate Sanlitun
Winner of Best New Hotel Restaurant and Outstanding French Restaurant in the Beijinger's 2015 Reader Restaurant Awards, Rosewood Beijing's Bistrot B has just launched a weekend brunch menu. Priced at RMB 270 for two courses of RMB 300 for three courses, including a glass of gin fizz, bloody mary, or bellini, the menu covers a range of standard brunch dishes, as well as traditional French dishes such as steak tartare and Nice salad. We're looking forward to trying their buckwheat crepe with ham, cheese, and egg (all of the eggs are sourced locally from a farm Shunyi).
For those who prefer dessert to brunch, Awfully Chocolate has just opened their second branch in Taikoo Li Sanlitun South, on level B1, just opposite BHG supermarket. They specialize in a dazzling array of – you guessed it – chocolate desserts, including brownies, crepe cakes, poached chocolate (we don't know either but we want to try it), and truffles. Their 70 percent dark chocolate ice cream comes highly recommended. Look out for a review in our July issue.
Other new openings we checked out last week included Kenny's Burgers in Nali Patio, Traitor Zhou's new deli in 1949, and the third branch of Zhang Mama at Jintai Lu. Check the respective blogs for more details.
More dining events and promotions this week:
- Head to The Local on Wednesday for buffalo wings at just RMB 3 per piece (minimum order of 10).
- China World Hotel has teamed up with French luxury porcelain brand Legle to create an elegant lotus-themed afternoon tea, served in the hotel's lobby lounge. The tea set is priced at RMB 88/188 per person, plus 15 percent service charge.
- Make brunch a destination with a trip out to Sunrise Kempinski Hotel at Yanqi Lake, where they have just launched an all-you-can-eat Champagne Sunday brunch. The price of brunch also includes access to the gym and swimming pool.
