Postal Packages to Receive Additional Scrutiny during September Holiday Period
Taobao addicts and others receiving goods by mail beware: all postal packages have been targeted for additional scrutiny during the upcoming September 3 holiday, the South China Morning Post reported Sunday.
All packages sent to Beijing prior to the September 3 holiday will be scanned, likely slowing delivery times for goods and other parcels.
"Senders and receivers of packages would need to register their real names," the report said. It was unclear whether the move applies only to packages being delivered from overseas, or whether domestic packages would also receive similar inspection.
A whole host of restrictions are being implemented prior to China's September 3 celebration of victory over Japan in World War II. Monday is set to be significant, as electric scooters without license plates could be seized. Stay tuned.
