Kipp's Picks: Neon Indian, QT, Traxman, and Rodion
Get ready to snap crackle and pop this week as a slew of top notch parties drop through the city to help you rage on through this potentially ice cold weekend.
Nov 19: Split Works Presents: Neon Indian
Alan Palomo brings in a fresh dose of sleazy new wave on Thursday evening at Yugong Yishan. His new album is getting lots of people all hot and bothered (that’s a good thing) with his 80s kill-or-be-killed synthed-out vibe. Check out this interview we did with him earlier in the month, and find out what makes this weirdo time bomb tick. RMB 150, RMB 120 (advance). 9pm. Yugong Yishan
Nov 19: Traxman
Chicago footwork and juke head Traxman will have you scuttle butting into the next dimension with his furiously fast beats and jacking synthetics, that fuse future heavy house music with deep soul elements of hip-hop. Get ready to dance your brains straight from your skull with this epic set from one of the genre’s most important innovators. RMB 50. 10pm. Dada
Nov 20: Rodion
Shanghai’s Co:Motion is bringing up Rodion this Friday. Known as a contemporary genius of the Italian disco genre, he fuses together everything from German synthesizer funk to Italian horror stylings to create an especially sinister scene on the dance floor. This isn’t the first time he’s made the trip to Beijing. Along laying down his unique mix of sleazy disco, house, and techno in clubs across China, he is also the producer behind some of Nova Heart’s best tracks. RMB 60. 10pm. Dada
Nov 21: Antidote Presents: QT
Fizzy, effervescent, and with a sound that’s just as synthetic as her PR campaign, this disciple of PC music will have you freaking out to everything from glitchy commercial performance art motifs, Mariah Carey, and some of the best music this connoisseur of all things future has to offer. We would like to think of this event as the perfect mixture of high art and the best primary school dance party you never attended. RMB 80. 10pm. Dada

The poster says the opening act will be Lobi. I haven't seen them play yet, but I've heard good things. Enjoy!
