Kipp's Picks: The Syndicate, Dome, Jay 1,2, and DJ French Toast
Time to once again hang that mistletoe from questionable spaces in your home or on your person, because the holiday season has officially descended on our most holy of cities. Get ready for a weekend filled with nontraditional merriment and promiscuous holiday spirits that will hopefully impart to you a warm feeling of joy that hopefully won’t send you to the doctor’s office in the new year.
Dec 18: The Syndicate presents Jungle Bells
The Syndicate's festive blow-out returns this week to shake the foundations with festive DnB tunes, wait a second we don’t think there’s actually ever been a Christmas themed DnB song. This being said, Kay C may or may not be wearing a Santa beard soaked in Chivas, Donkey Tonk may or may not show up dressed up as Rudy the red-knobbed reindeer, and Blackie may or may not get too drunk and yell at everyone till they cry into their turkey. RMB 30 (free if wearing Christmas attire). 10pm. Dada
Dec 19: Dome
“Let architects sing of aesthetics that bring rich clients in hordes to their knees; Just give me a home, in a great circle dome where stresses and strains are at ease.” Beautiful words from the mind of Buckminster Fuller. Though he would likely not get down to the tunes being played here, these DJs have put his ideas to good to create superbly fresh mixes for the youth of Beijing to rage in modern efficiency. Free. 10pm. Rec Room
Dec 18: Jay 1, 2 and BBQ
Experience the magical pairing of Texas style barbecue and great soul, blues, and funk from Jay 1, 2. Let’s not forget all of the great cocktails developed by the soon to depart Dave Bob Gasper, whom we will all miss dearly when he moves onwards and upwards to Dubai. Those Arabian nights are about to get a little more groovy with his zesty presence. Free. 10pm. Home Plate BBQ
Dec 19: Housing the Bar with French Toast (UK)
Get ready to elevate that holiday spirit with some deep house, forgotten disco gems of yesteryear, a savory taste of Detroit techno, and plenty of dope grooves to get your hips shaking till morning. This time around, the lovable Nassdak is joined by French Toast, who brings his delicious mixing skills to the decks. RMB 40 (Free before 11pm). 10pm. The Bar at Migas
