EAT: 4corners' Wafflewich, Asparagus Season at LMPlus, Umani Ronchi Wine Dinner at Opera Bombana
All of you working in Beijing's F&B industry know what happens when spring comes around: it’s asparagus season! Plenty of restaurants around town are holding special asparagus events, one of which is at LMPlus. The Italian restaurant is cooperating with Solari Organic Farm, where their fresh green and purple asparagus was sourced to make a number of asparagus-based dishes through to this Sunday (Apr 24).
In other news, it's your last chance to sign up for tomorrow's (Apr 20) Umani Ronchi wine dinner, an experience that will take your tastebuds to the Marche and Abruzzo regions in Eastern Italy by China Wines and Spirits, whose offerings will be paired with a meal of Opera Bombana’s usual excellent standards. To sign up, call Alex on 134 3948 4079.
Last weekend, as we continued on the trail of Beijing's insatiable brunch trend, we discovered that 4corners are starting a new option trend of their own: the Wafflewich (RMB 45, pictured at top). The Wafflewich is exactly what you would think: it is a breakfast sandwich, which instead of bread, utilizes gluten-free waffles to hold it together. Choice between a filling of pulled pork, chicken, or smoked beef with poached egg, cheese curds, gravy, and wholegrain mustard. Our minds were blown. Beware though: this breakfast item is only suitable for those who enjoy mixing sweet and savory (read: Americans, or those with American-inclined tastes).
Also on the menu is the Lumbersexual (RMB 65), which also featured these delicious, huge, gluten-free pancakes. More on gluten-free dining coming soon, including news about how Tribe Lido is taking gluten-free dining to a whole new level.
As always, keep an eye on our Events section and your favorite restaurants for all your foodie needs.
