Grilled: Classic and Quesadilla Burgers and Big Discounts at Saturday's Burger Festival From Luga's Villa
As part of the Beijinger's month-long Burger Cup (which kicked off May 16 with burger specials around town), we take a closer look at some of this year's participants. Today we're grilling Daniel Zhang, floor manager at Luga's Villa, who will not only be slinging burgers at our May 28 Burger Festival, but also vying for the title of Burger Cup champion (voting for which begins on May 30).
If you think hamburgers are quintessentially American, think again. While everyone's favorite buns 'n' beef combination is indeed a fixture Stateside, that doesn't mean they can't feel equally at home south of the border. This was the mindset that Luga's had while putting a Mexican twist on this time honored meaty sandwich. The result: a quesadilla burger, comprised of a sumptuous tortilla shell, gooey melted cheese, enchantingly tender beef and toppings that give it an added spicy kick. Patrons looking for more conventional fare can opt for Luga's classic burger. Below, Zhang tells us more about these beefy offerings.
Give us the lowdown on your signature burgers
Quesadilla Burger (RMB 72 at the restaurant, RMB 20 at the May 28 Burger Festival)
It is crisp on the outside and soft inside, thanks to its tortilla shell. It also has a hot and sour taste because of its Mexican toppings, like jalapeños, while still boasting some more traditional burger additions like crispy bacon. This gives our quesadilla burger a unique flavor.
Classic Burger (RMB 70 at the restaurant, RMB 30 at the May 28 Burger Festival)
This burger includes our restaurant's secret sauce, which gives it a very unique taste. It also has salt and black pepper, pickles, tomato, and lettuce.
Brief us on your beef
We select top quality Australian beef. Our chef personally checks its modulation of lean and fatty meat, along with ensuring its safety and reliability.
Give us a guide to your sides: What items best accompany your burgers?
Our menu is quite big and there are many options. At the Burger Festival, in addition to burgers, we will be selling french fries (RMB 20), buffalo wings (RMB 20), and roasted sausages (RMB 15).
