Push Your Body to the Limit and Sign Up for the Beijing Spartan Race, Oct 30

Having challenged contestants from the United States to Europe, the obstacle course race known as the Spartan Race now brings its unique test of speed, strength, and endurance to China with a session in Beijing on October 30 (and in Shanghai on October 16, for our southern frenemies). The Beijing race is to take place at Sunlon Purple Valley Eden.

The race in Beijing will have two main competitions: 'elite' and 'open,' all at the Spartan Sprint level. To the average Joe that means that there will over 20 obstacles across six kilometers (approximately three miles).

Obstacles vary per race due to the encapsulating landscape, with previous races including tasks such as the 'Atlas Carry,' which involves carrying a huge boulder for 15 meters, doing five burpees, and then carrying the boulder back, or the 'Fire Jump,' which is fairly self explanatory, contestants expected to jump over a wall of fire.

As if the fun of participating wasn't enough, there will also be prizes to be won. Elite racers stand to receive RMB 3,000 for first place, RMB 1,500 for second, and RMB 500 for third.

Participation costs RMB 399 for the Elite athletes who sign up before October 16, and RMB 369 for the Open competition. After October 16, entry will cost RMB 489 or RMB 459 for Elite and Open competitions, respectively, and on the race day itself prices go up to RMB 539 and RMB 499. To be eligible to win prize money, Elite racers must add RMB 30.
