Chefs Mo Zhou and Starry Xiao Take Over White Tiger Village, Oct 24-29

Boundary-pushing Beixinqiao chuan'r bar White Tiger Village are relinquishing control of their kitchen to local chefs Mo Zhou and Starry Xiao for a series of limited-edition pop-up dinners from October 24-29. The two chefs have previously held a successful pop-up at White Tiger Village in March 2016. Note that there will be seatings at 6pm and 8.30pm every evening during the pop-up, and that the regular White Tiger Village menu won't be available.

Mo and Starry met through connections at Attica Restaurant near Melbourne, a consistent award winner and one of the 2014 San Pelligrino World's 50 Best Restaurants, the highest ranking in Australia.

Mo Zhou started his career in food in 2010, studying at the prestigious William Angliss Institute in Melbourne. After graduating, he worked at top Melbourne restaurants Attica and Vue du Monde, since which time he has held a series of pop-up dinners with other chefs and restaurants in Australia. He currently splits his time between Beijing, Melbourne, and Korea.

Starry fell in love with food while studying fashion and visual communication in the UK between 2009 and 2013. After he graduated he started working as a food stylist, before going to Australia to do an internship at Attica in 2015. He has been hosting pop-up dinners in and around Beijing since 2014.

The seven-course menu is priced at RMB 398 per person, with the option to add a wine pairing designed by wine expert David Andrew for RMB 228. The menu fuses modern technique and creative presentation with local, seasonal Chinese ingredients (check out that osmanthus and fermented rice wine in the pre-dessert). The pictures that have come out of the menu so far look frankly stunning, and the presentation is clearly inspired by Mo and Starry's time at Attica. Check out the full menu below.
