7 Events to Completely Avoid Halloweekend's Creepy Advances

So you hate Halloween. That's fine. Stressing about a costume, getting dressed up, drinking, slowly losing parts of your costume, wearing parts of someone else's, drinking, falling over, and crying with blood and mascara running down your face into the wee hours of the morning isn't for everyone. That's why god created other things, including these seven events where you will *not* have to deal with all this holiday claptrap. However, if you've click on this by accident, there are nearly 90 events catering to the above kind of shenanigans, listed here.

All Weekend

Blue Man Group Beijing (above)
Do not be decieved by the goofy blue costumes and paint. This world-renowned Blue Man Group show has been performing in over 15 countries to over 35 million people since 1991. The show combines music, comedy (see, not spooky!), and technology to appeal to everyone.

2nd Beyond Frozen Point Film Festival
Again, don't be deceived by the prospect of locking yourself in a dark room for hours. Fourteen films will be shown throughout the weekend as part of the Scandinavian Beyond Frozen Point Film fest, which highlights how climate change has affected nature, society, and the human mind. All the films shown throughout the weekend have come from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, and Greenland.

Maovember
If you're looking to dress up just a little this Halloween, how you don a little mustache and give to charity? This Beijing-based charity month aims to raise money via a full schedule of events at local bars, and this weekend alone there will be a wine tasting at Café de la Poste and a charity corn toss tournament at Irish Volunteer.

Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra Concert in Beijing
Quite the opposite from your typical club/rave scene, the Dresden Philharmonic was formed in 1870, and according to their website, has great musical and stylistic variety by retaining the classic "German sound" and combining it with classical baroque, classical Viennese, and contemporary touches.

Saturday, Oct 29

Diwali Party
Diwali, one of the biggest Hindu festivals, also falls this weekend. Taking place over four days, Diwali is a celebration of light, life, enjoyment, and all things good. This year, Diwali falls on Sunday (Oct 30) and in addition to the huge feast Punjabi Restaurant has planned, there will also be dance performances, and a DJ to keep you entertained all night! Happy Diwali!

Cabaret Classical Szilvia Szidonia Pap Andrey Chernov
Again, a step back from the typical club/rave scene. This unique performance is centered around classical and cabaret music originating in Hungary. The performance features Szilvia Szidonia Pap as soprano and Andrey Chernov on the piano.

Sunday, Oct 30

Spartan Race Beijing
Want to literally run away from all this Halloween madness? The Spartan Race has created courses all over the world, and now it's coming to test Beijing's grit. This 6km obstacle course will have over more than 20 obstacles ranging from crawling under barbed wire and to jumping over fire.
