Whiskers, Parties, and Goodwill: Movember Raises RMB 70,000 So Far, More Events to Come
As the end of the month approaches, the Maovember charity series continues to grow long and unwieldy amounts of cash, trailing like a fu manchu across the countenance that is Beijing's nightlife scene.
The charity series of bar events has raised RMB 70,000 so far, thanks to parties at venues like The Tiki Bungalow, Paddy O'Shea's, Irish Volunteer, Arrow Factory, Slow Boat Brewery, Cheers, and many more.
"It's good that we reached some of the goals we set," says coordinator Jim Boyce. He also says he's happy to be involved with more Chinese businesses than prior years, including Panda Brew Pub, WE Brewery, and XL Bar & Restaurant.
"Maovember is kind of a quirky campaign because it brings together venues of all kinds, all doing very different events, over more than a month," Boyce says.
And despite all the mustache twirl worthy fun and successes that the campaign has had so far, it's certainly not yet time to shave off any of that stubble or let the good times come to an end. That's because there's still plenty of events that will help get you tipsy for a good cause.
Here's a rundown of the remaining Maovember mania that you shouldn't miss out on:
Nov 15: Win your weight in Belgian beer at King's Day at Beer Mania
Nov 16: Whack some balls at the Ping Pong Social at Migas
Nov 17: The launch of the GoodWorks-assisted Yunnan Coffee Imperial Stout at Jing-A
Nov 18: An open mic night, best mustache contest, darts games, and more at Paddy O’Shea’s
Nov 18-20: A special mulled wine promotion at Cheers (Gulou, Sanlitun, Shuangjing, Fenghuanghui, and Topwin stores)
Nov 26: Pop-Up Beijing flea market
