Help Stop the Spread of HIV and AIDS in China by Weaving Your Own Red Ribbon at Pop-Up Beijing, Nov 30
Weave red ribbons for World AIDS Day on November 30 at Pop-Up Beijing, and help change lives of women and children at risk in southwest China.
Every mao collected on this day will go directly to the China Red Ribbon Foundation, to work on their 'Blessing Bar' program in Liangshan. This program works to provide supplies to underprivileged pregnant mothers in minority groups, encouraging healthy birthing practices and hygienic childcare. This massively reduces the risk of disease in both mothers and children, contributing to reducing the spread of HIV and AIDS in rural China.
So far, the program has reached over 3,000 people, but with your participation, can reach many more.
During the workshop with Rebecca (who also goes by her design moniker Bekkas Dzines), you'll be taught how to make red ribbon pins. You'll be able to keep the one of your batch that you like the most, and the others will be sold on World AIDS Day the following day (Dec 1) to raise funds. The aim of the event is to make at least 100 additional ribbons.
Enrolling costs RMB 395, which all goes to charity. Check out the event listing for more information.
