More's Zhongguancun Serviced Residences Give Beijing the Swanky Apartments it Needs
The Zhongguancun area has evolved over the years from a go-to bargain electronic area to the center of Beijing's tech startup scene as more and more people take the plunge into the surrounding entrepreneurship abyss. Housing prices in the area have also seen a steady rise due to the high demand and proximity to the ever-increasing number of tech companies sprouting up.
In Beijing, there are relatively few options for serviced residences that aren’t tied to big hotel chains or brands. More Residences, known as Mo Er in Chinese and owned by Mo Fang, has residences in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. This Zhongguancun building, the newest residency in the More arsenal, is located 10 minutes away from central Zhongguancun and a three minute walk from Weigongcun subway station. It boasts 73 rooms, the smallest being a cozy 33 square meters, and was officially opened last November.
More is every Beijing renter's wish come true: simple yet luxurious. In More's own words they are, “more than a dwelling place, It’s where you belong, It’s where you linger in the details, where reality exceeds your expectations, It’s the place you won’t want to leave, because you found home.”
In Beijing, rarely do you find showrooms that give prospective renters a real feel for the room they will eventually rent. Often when searching for a home, agents show you apartment after apartment, a frustrating dance that can take you to the brink of madness and desperation – a well known selling tactic that can end in the tenant settling on a house they may not have otherwise accepted.
More does things differently. They have studio and one-bedroom apartment showrooms that will make your heart flutter with excitement as you look round. These serviced apartments don’t come cheap but can be affordable depending on your budget, ranging from RMB 9,000-15,000 per month.
Here are four things that you can expect from renting with More:
Space
In the hunt for an apartment or serviced residences in Beijing, most places look tight, with very little wiggle room for a mere three people. But in More's case, looks aren’t deceiving. The ceiling to floor space in each of More's apartments doesn't evoke feelings of a claustrophobia because of an increased ceiling to floor distance and expanded space in the bathrooms, toilet, kitchen, living, bedroom, and closets means that you never feel trapped. All rooms have storage space carefully tucked away – under the bed, for example – or in other convenient spots that won't cause you to trip over yourself.
Snazziness
More looks towards a contemporary Scandinavian style decor in all their apartments, one that’s rooted in minimalism and utilitarianism. The serviced residences have each been carefully thought out in terms of natural and light, splashes of color, and touches of light wood. The wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, and bathroom walls are all white to provide each of the rooms a bright and fresh feel whereas natural red brick walls give the hallways a texture and color that absorb the light and emanate a warm glow. The rooms also sport artworks that complement the atmosphere depending on space; bigger rooms have larger art that opens up the space while smaller rooms comes with pieces that don't overpower. The attention to detail is evident; from vintage door handles to bronze faucets, there’s always something new to fall in love with once you discover the place that's right for you.
The studio apartments have windows are big enough to allow as much natural light as possible, minimizing energy costs. That being said, the bedrooms have also been designed to ensure that very little light can get in when you want to sleep.
Service
From the moment you walk into the lobby, you will be greeted by smiling helpful staff. The lobby will also soon be home to its own coffee shop, where tenants can enjoy a freshly made cup of joe before even stepping out of their building. More also has a list of chargeable services such as car rental, moving, laundry, house cleaning, fitness, yoga, water, and electricity, as well as a number of free services, including printing, pre-ordering travel tickets, postal service, and space for parties.
Each room is kitted out with a toaster, coffee machine, washing machine, under-the-sink water purifiers, cutlery, and more.
Safety
The apartments only have one main entrance, which makes it difficult for others to try and sneak in and get past the cameras for 24-hour monitoring. The elevators are operated by a key card, and the door to each room has a unique passcode that must be entered in order to opem.
In terms of air safety, the rooms are retrofitted with a high-end air filtration system to help with air purification and improved indoor AQI. As mentioned before, there is also a water purification system, fitted under each sink to ensure access to good quality drinking and cooking water.
Overall, More gives much needed options for anyone looking for superior renting spaces that are spacious, snazzy, have quality service, and high safety standards. If you would like to visit their premises, click here to book an appointment and be wowed by one of More's stylish showrooms.
