EAT: Sherpa's Day at Ramo, Tasting Dinner at Okra, TRB Rebranding, Gluten-Free Bakes at Moka Bros
If you're looking for foodie celebrations this week, Beijing has plenty of them. The first involves Sherpa's and Ramo teaming up this Saturday (Mar 25) to celebrate the launch of their new delivery app, starting at 2pm.
For the event, Ramo has created an exclusive Sherpa's pizza, and the neighboring Mimi e Coco will be mixing up a special Sherpa's punch. Purchasing either of these items will grant you entry into the day's raffle, where entrants stand to win 160 vouchers valued at RMB 2,000 in total. Each voucher guarantees a win (from RMB 5 to RMB 50).
The same day, Okra 1949 will host Chef Max Levy, returning from Hong Kong where he has been working at Okra Kitchen, for a one-night-only tasting dinner, blending seasonal ingredients, traditional Japanese techniques, and contemporary ideas. The dinner costs RMB 500. Reserve your spot by calling 6593 5087.
Over in the hutongs, Temple Restaurant Beijing have announced that they are rebranding, changing their name to TRB Hutong, while TRB Bites will morph into something more along the lines of the same concept, and renaming to TRB Forbidden City. Basically, you will now find a similar dining experience at TRB either in the hutongs or at the Forbidden City, just coupled with your backdrop of choice.
And finally, if you're unfortunate enough to suffer from allergies and don't often get the chance to stuff your facehole full of delicious baked goods worry-free, Moka Bros have heeded to your cries with their new Badass Baked Goods selection. The menu includes a vegan cheesecake, gluten-free brownies, and dairy-free banoffee mousse. In total, there are seven alternative desserts, although they may not all be available at all three branches, so head to the bake counter to see what's on offer.
