This Week in Health and Fitness: Mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Ms. Uptown's Boobcamp
To mark and participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, female-only fitness studio Ms. Uptown is joining up with Paradise Lounge for "Boobcamp" on Oct 14.
Boobcamp is a three-hour workshop designed to help women understand and improve the health of their breast, particularly for women who are active and do a lot of high-impact sports. The goal is to provide 360-degree coverage of the questions women have about their breasts, including how to better understand our bodies, nutrition targeted at breast health, how sports and exercise can shape and change our breasts, and lastly, important factors to consider when choosing a sports bra. The idea for the workshop came about when one of the founders of Ms. Uptown was talking with a friend who is a keen runner about how running had negatively affected her chest.
The workshop is divided into four sections: a session on breast health and breast cancer prevention with oncologist Dr. Jessica Li; a session on nutrition with nutritionist and founder of Tick Lightmeal, Tick; a 60-minute upper body-focused fitness class with one of Ms. Uptown's star trainers; and a session on choosing the right sports bra for you with Australian activewear brand Lorna Jane.
Participants will also get to take home a tote bag filled with coupons from the event sponsors, including 15 percent off group fitness classes at Paradise Lounge, 15 percent off group classes at Ms. Uptown, up to 30 percent off Lorna Jane activewear, 20 percent off all products in the TruLiving store, and a full body checkup and dermatological assessment from Life Infinity Clinic (located by Paradise Lounge), worth RMB 5,680.
The event takes place from 2-5pm (registration starts at 1.30pm) on Saturday, Oct 14 at Paradise Lounge. Paradise Lounge is an international life and health management center located on the 6th floor of the Beijing CBD’s landmark Yintai Center. Entry costs RMB 268 per person.
