Egyptian Lover
Brick phones, cassette tapes, and Jheri curls. That's only part of the alluring iconography evoked by veteran DJ and producer Egyptian Lover. The California legend will take to Dada's decks to grace Beijing clubgoers with a myriad of his '80s rap classics for an electro throwback set that's oh so rare in the capital. Egyptian lover is renowned for laying the foundation for many of the 1990s West Coast superstars that later ascended from his beats: Dr. Dre, Eazy E, Rodney O, Snoop Dogg, King Tee, and others. Catch a glimpse of music history by dancing your Friday night away to this legendary producer's set. 10pm. Price TBA. Dada

D-Unity
This Canuck DJ has also founded his own eponymous label Unity Records. Having taught himself the ropes of techno production, D-Unity now has a list of big-wig collaborators under his belt that includes Usher, Enrique Iglesias, Havana Brown, and Pitbull. 11pm. RMB 80, RMB 50 (advance). Lantern

Saturday, Mar 24

Sevdaliza
This one won't, by any means, make for a standard night of mindless good times. But if you're into boundary-pushing, thought-provoking, experimental R&B and trip-hop, then Sevdaliza's set will be one you surely won't forget. The Dutch-Iranian rising star's set will appeal to fans of FKA Twigs and other cutting-edge modern acts, while also boasting enough catchy rhythms to harken back to classic '90s R&B. 9pm. RMB 300 presale, RMB 350 at the door. Omni Space

DJ Lag
Burgeoning Durban, South Africa DJ Lag returns to Dada after gracing the Gulou club's decks back in 2016. That was the rising star's first set outside of his homeland, and since then he's gone on to tour the US while also nabbing hot slots at Berghain in Berlin, and Boiler Room London to increasingly sizable crowds. Fans see him as an ambassador of Durban's signature gqom sound, which DJ magazine Dazed described as a "broken-down, sparse South African house genre." 10pm. Price TBA. Dada

50 Shades of Peng
Is a typical night out in Beijing too tame for your tastes? Well, Aurora implores you to: "Bring your whips, take your chains, wear your leathers and come to us, experience the sexiest music in the cellar." Club owner and Peng label founder DJ Pancake Lee will provide the soundtrack to your night of sadism. 10pm. RMB 80, RMB 50 (advance). Aurora
