When We Were Kings Screening at Fruityspace
This 1996 documentary digs into the story of arguably the most famous boxing match of all time: the so-called "Rumble in the Jungle" between George Foreman and Muhammad Ali in Kinshasa, Zaire. But much more than a recap of a fight, the film is a commentary on the relationship between African Americans and the African Continent during a time in history when that relationship was reaching a reckoning. 8.30pm at Fruityspace.

Beijing Africa Week Launch Party
Africa week is kicking off at Modernista this Thursday with a mix of African talent on stage, including Sierra Leonean Maliya, the Black Pearl of China as well as Ghana's Kanala Music performing their new album, Oxygen. Free-Jazz Night at Fruityspace
Gao, an experience sax player and composer, has been gifting his tunes to the ears of Beijingers since 2006. Now he's letting it all flow freely this Thursday, accompanied by Wang Chenzhun on Bass and Xiaodou on drums. 9pm at Fruityspace. RMB 100, or RMB 50 for students.
