Burger Fest Moved to Sep 3-5 at GALAXY SOHO

Dear Burger Fans,

In light of the recent travel-fueled Covid-19 infections that have quickly made their way from Nanjing all the way across China and into our fair city, we’ve decided to play it safe and delay this weekend’s Burger Fest to a new date – and a bigger venue!

The 2021 Burger Festival will Now be held Sep 3-5 at Galaxy Soho

Last Thursday we were disappointed to hear that two new cases were reported in Beijing, local residents who picked the bug up while traveling to the tourist destination of Zhangjiajie. Yesterday, three more Beijingers came down with it as well, having made the same trip to Zhangjiajie (with a stopover in Hainan as well).

Five people in a city of 20+ million may be a mere drop of water in the vast ocean – but these infections are likely of the more contageous Delta strain, and it’s still too early to tell whether this will blossom into a bigger concern or simply be the isolated cases we hope they are.

With attendance topping out at over 15,000, our festivals are amongst the larger gatherings in the city, and given that they are eating- and drinking-based, masks come off as we put our feed bags on.

Could we go ahead and push the envelope and hold the fest this coming weekend? Probably. Will other people go ahead and hold their events without a care? Likely.

However, we hold ourselves to a different standard, and we want no part in perpetuating the Covid-19 crisis which has plagued us since the beginning of 2020.

Refunds for early bird tickets already purchased

For those of you who already bought early bird tickets, we will be refunding your purchase entirely, no questions asked.

You will receive notification of this via email and via your payment plaform (WeChat or Alipay). Sometimes this automated refund process can take a day or two to process, so if you do not get yours right away, don't fret – it's coming.

Tickets for the September date will go up next Monday, Aug 9 – stay tuned here as we will inform you as soon as it's live!

That’s Not All

We’re also taking three additional measures to assure Burger Fest 2021 is safe for all:

Bigger Venue: We’re moving back to a more spacious venue – Galaxy Soho – so there’s a little less crowding.

Expanded Time: We’re expanding the fest to three full days – 11am-8pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday (with lighter crowds expected on Friday daytime) to reduce the overall crowding.

Vaccinated Only: In the interest of assuring maximum safety for the event, we will now require all 18-year-olds and above to show evidence of being fully vaccinated.

Given 90 percent of local folks have already received both jabs and an estimated 80 percent of the foreigners have as well, this regulation won’t put a damper on our normal crowd.

That means you people have 4-1/2 weeks to get your vaccination status in order. Yet another reason to get the jab!

So play it safe over the next month folks and see you in September!
