OlymPicks: China Tops Paralympic Medal Table, Eileen Gu Spotted in Taikooli

In OlymPicks, we highlight news, gossip, and the results of Beijing's 2022 Winter Olympics.

China Tops Paralympic Medal Count

It looks like Team China is set to take home the most medals from the Winter Paralympics, boasting 15 golds and 49 medals in total as of Mar 12.

The host country has taken the most golds – five in all – in para cross-country skiing, specifically in men’s and women’s long distance and sprint sitting, and the men’s middle distance standing events.

China also took home four golds in para biathlon – in the men’s individual sitting, middle distance sitting, and sprint sitting, as well as women’s sprint standing – and three golds each in para alpine skiing and para snowboarding.

Eileen Gu Hits Up Taikooli

Even though the Winter Olympics are long over, Eileen Gu, darling of the Games, is still on everyone’s minds – and still in Beijing, for that matter.

Gu was spotted in Sanlitun’s Taikooli on Mar 10, tooling around shops in the area and even watching herself on the big screen.

End of Paralympics Brings Traffic Restrictions

With the Paralympics finally coming to a close on Sunday, Mar 13, they bring with them a final round of traffic restrictions – mainly focused around the National Stadium and Olympic Park areas.

For more on the road – and subway station – closures, read all about it in this article.

The restrictions will be in place all day on Sunday in order for the closing ceremony to go off without a hitch. If you haven’t already, check out video footage of the opening ceremony here to get a feel for what’s in store.
