Drunk Debates Returns to the Capital Tomorrow, Mar 11
After a brief hiatus, Drunk Debates is returning to the capital this weekend (Mar 11) to give you a dose of sloppy, nonsensical, argumentative fun.
What is Drunk Debates I hear you ask? Well, it’s a game show where comedians debate random topics, but with a twist: each competitor must take a shot before each round. As the night goes on this inevitably leads to the competitors getting progressively drunker, and their arguments more incoherent as the alcohol takes hold. All of this takes place on stage, in front of a live audience who will then decide who was the better debater.
This time round some of Beijing’s best comedians will be facing off against the Date Night China hosts in what promises to be one epic, and most definitely sloppy, battle. This debate has been a long time coming with the two sides originally set to meet last November in a Thanksgiving Drunk Debate special, however it was unfortunately cancelled due to Covid. Now that it’s finally time, we hope they’ve been using the interim period to sharpen their arguing skills, build up their drinking tolerances and perfect the art of talking nonsense.
Now, what exactly will they be debating? The short answer: anything and everything! Competitors will draw debate topics from a hat and these can range from the trivial like hot pot versus barbecue or get down to age old questions such as which is the correct way to hang toilet paper (with the loose end draped over the top facing out, obviously.)
Of course, it won’t just be the competitors getting to enjoy some booze, but the audience too. Drinks aren’t actually sold at the venue, instead presale drinks are available to purchase made by Sips by Sal! You can contact the Comedy Citadel official WeChat account by scanning the QR code below to order your drinks in advance.
If you’ve ever borne witness to a drunken friend trying to sincerely argue a point, you’ll know just how entertaining it can be. I once argued with a friend about whether we had been to Great Leap #12 as we were, in fact, getting a Didi from Great Leap #12. So, if you want to watch some drunken comedians and the Date Night China hosts argue about some of the silliest things you can think of, get your ticket now!
Drunk Debates is hosted by Comedy Citadel and will be taking place 9.30pm, Mar 11 at Yong He Plaza Tower E. Tickets are RMB 115 and can be purchased by scanning the QR code in the poster above.
If you’re seeking even more comedy, there is also a Late Night Comedy Show happening 9.30pm tonight (Mar 10) at Yong He Plaza Tower E. Tickets are RMB 125 and can be purchased by scanning the QR code in the poster below.
