More Empty Trains Added to Increase Capacity at Shuangjing Station: The Beijing Subway has started running more empty trains from Line 10’s Shuangjing Station in an effort to relieve morning rush hour traffic, according to a post on their official WeChat. The empty trains begin running from 8.20am each day, and have thus far reduced waiting times on the platform by ten minutes, subway officials say.
Timetables for Line 14 Adjusted This Week: New timetables have been implemented on Line 14, which is also seeking to combat congestion issues, reports Beijing Daily. The new timetables, which went into effect on May 11, will see earlier starting times and increased train frequency during morning and evening rush hours.
Under the new schedule, trains heading east from Lize Shangwuqu Station will now depart 19 minutes earlier, 6.22am instead of 6.41am, during morning peak hours; whereas evening trains heading east from Lize Shangwuqu will now depart 12 minutes earlier, at 5.19pm instead of 5.31pm. Conversely, morning trains heading south from Shan’gezhuang Station will now depart 23 minutes earlier, or 6.35am instead of 6.12am, with no change of schedule given for evening trains departing from Shan’gezhuang.
Dongcheng District to Make Core Area Roads More Pedestrian Friendly: Work is underway to make a series of roads more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists, according to WeChat news account Zuiai Da Beijing (最爱大北京). The redevelopment will be focused on the north-south sections of Chaoyangmen Nanbei Xiaojie and the Dongcheng section of Chaofu Lu, and will seek to improve utilization efficiency and ensure no traffic issues.
Two Wumart Locations Close in Shunyi District: According to Zuiai Da Beijing (最爱大北京), two branches of the Wumart supermarket chain have shuttered in Shunyi district. The stores in question are near Shengli Community Line 15’s Shimen Subway Station. No explanation for the closures has been given.
