This Friday: Join the Fan Addicts at Turkish Feast!
This Friday, 20 individuals will have the chance to try some very particular Turkish specialties with the Fan Addicts Dining Club at Turkish Feast – where a true feast will whisk diners to the Anatolian peninsula with everything from mezze to flaming kebab to an entire lamb!
Since its inception two years ago, the Beijinger’s Fan Addicts Dining Club – which takes its name from the Chinese word for food (饭 fàn) – has been on a mission to take diners around the world with food, right here in Beijing.
This, coupled with our ongoing 24 for ’24 series, is a match made in heaven: the chance to try our picks of 24 of the most fantastic places to dine at in 2024, all of which offer options from – you guessed it – all over the world! You can read more about the Turkish Feast edition in this post.
Our next gathering will be taking place at the JinShang location of Turkish Feast and will feature a menu no less adventurous than our other outings have seen.
What's In Store
The evening will kick off with the most quintessential of Turkish starters, mezze. Featuring dishes like creamy, lemony Hummus, eggplant-laden Turkish Babaganoush and a variety of other delicious dips accompanied by Turkish Feast’s freshly made bread rolls, it's the perfect appetizer to kickstart the meal.
From the mezze, the meal moves to the salads, the Mediterranean and the Turkish Garden Salad. The former is as vibrant as the sea it takes its name from, with a balance of punchy, nutty, and mellow from the likes of arugula, radicchio, avocado, buffalo mozzarella, and cherry tomatoes. The latter Garden Salad sees diced cucumber, bell pepper, olives, and more topped with feta cheese and doused in olive oil and lemon juice.
From there it’s on to the mains, starting with the Testi Beef Kebab Guvec.
This traditional dish hailing from the east-central Turkish region of Cappadocia is a truly intriguing way to enjoy kebab, seeing as it’s first cooked inside a clay vessel topped with a flatbread lid. Served aflame tableside, the contents of tender stewed beef, tomatoes, bell pepper, and garlic are then poured out for piping hot consumption.
Then there’s the pièce de résistance – a Whole Roasted Lamb! Cooked to tender perfection until the meat can fall right off the bone, the lamb is lovingly spiced and herbed up to make for a true masterpiece of dining; a reason to feast if there ever was one.
Also served as sides will be a Vegetables Platter and Basmati Pilaf, long-grain, nutty in flavor rice lightly fried in oil and broth and simmered until fluffy and tender.

The dinner will be served family-style at Turkish Feast’s JinShang Yuan location, close to Liangmaqiao and the eastern embassy area on Oct 11. The event will begin at 6.30pm, with dinner served promptly at 7pm.
