Kitty & Daniel CBD, BigEats, and Others Close Up Shop

Right on the heels of recent closures from Apollo and a few other Beijing eateries, yet more have come to our attention as having departed the capital.

But first, a bit of good news! Great Leap #45, which was going through some negotiations with their landlord following a premature closure announcement, is back in action. A post published yesterday on their official WeChat details that they've successfully managed to renegotiate the lease and they encourage patrons to stop by the branch to show their support this week and beyond.

Other spots haven't been as lucky. The same day our previous post on Apollo et. al went out, we got word that the CBD branch of Kitty & Daniel’s (pictured in lead image), a sort of mishmash of American dining and Americana style, was down and out. This marks another blow to dining in the area, with La Platea’s CBD location in The Place also having recently shuttered.

In the realm of food delivery, Sherpas has announced they will be ceasing their Beijing delivery operations as of Nov 30. The announcement did not mention operations in Shanghai or other cities, so we can assume you might still be able to order via Sherpas elsewhere in China.

In other corners of Beijing, corned beef sandwich shop BigEats and sister shop Poke Donuts have quietly departed 798. On a recent visit we found their hidden courtyard space vacated and their listings scrubbed from Dianping.

Speaking of donuts and quiet closures, the Donut Co., which was operating a delivery-focused shop near Shuangjing, has also bit the dust. Thankfully not all hope on the donut front is lost, with recent openings like Chill Pill and other donut shops around town (more on those at a future date).
