Dangui Renjia
Originally a small eatery Dangui near National Art Museum of China was shut down during the Great Brickening then reopened in the basement of Galaxy Soho. Providing suansun (酸笋) or marinated sour bamboo shoot, rice noodles (RMB 15-20), and several Guilin home-style dishes (RMB 18-45) including stir-fried marinated sour bamboo shoots with pig intestines, and lipu taro with pork.

Started as a no-frill coffee-shop style outlet on Kitchener Road in Singapore in 2000, Putien is named after the coastal city Putian (莆田) in Fujian province. Offering Fujian cuisine, the outlet is a large 300sqm with enough space for over 100 people, and the interior design is quite airy, giving the space a lively and bold design in tiffany blue color, as well as light wood tables and chairs.

Eighty-Eight Noodles
Right after opened earlier in 2016, Eighty-Eight is popular among Chinese celebrities, it is a small restaurant focusing on Guangxi rice noodles at Shangdu Soho. Their specialty is river-snail rice noodle and Nanning “good friend rice noodle”. You can choose non-spicy, mild spicy or very spicy. The noodles are RMB 35-50, and you can also add more side snacks, such as egg, pork feet and duck feet.

Just Fun
It seems like everyone and their uncle is leaving the corporate world to open up a restaurant these days, but few are as successful as Just Fun (ignore the name), the Shuangjing restaurant set up by a former designer. The homestyle Guizhou dishes (try the chicken with fresh chilies) will have your taste buds dancing and the rough-hewn interior is clear evidence of the owner’s design background.
