Spanish and Tapas

Wood Garden House

A spacious eatery with two floors and a theme that borders on jungle-like, serving Spanish and Latin-style food. There’s also a large stage that hosts alternating performances of DJs and live music.

The menu is full of Instagram-worthy photos of salads, power bowls, soups, and entrées including the herbal salad with hot spring egg, chestnut pumpkin and creamy mushroom soups, pasta with shrimp and asparagus, chicken quesadilla, tacos, a Spanish seafood paella, and more.

The Merchants

This elegantly low key, lounge style restaurant and bar specializes in fusion tapas and rare, boutique wines. Building was once occupied by now defunct gallery Meridian Space.

Next to its dining area is a seperate café called M Coffee, which serves quality desserts and imported coffee. Though both are opperated by the same owners, the café and restaurant are open at different hours. Read more about M Coffee here.

Yinghuo Paella

This paella restaurant seems to be catering to upwardly mobile Chinese with curious tastebuds, what with its lack of an English name and the unconventional combination of chicken wings and prawns in one of its paella options (priced at RMB 108). Be that as it may, we found that dish to be delicious, if left of center, while the straightforwardly satisfying sides, from plump and tender sweet potato wedges (RMB 20 for a bowlful of about half a dozen) to salty and sizzling shrimp skewers (RMB 36) also didn't hurt.

Migas Mercado

Perhaps not surprisingly from the people who brought us Sanlitun's most Instagrammed terrace (RIP), we're loving everything about the terrace at Migas Mercado, from the striking yellow and purple color scheme to the panoramic CBD views.

Top Tapas

Top Tapas, located on the third floor, is self explanatory and is decorated with several cozy leather sofas throughout the large space, reminiscent of a large living room, albeit incorporating bold colors that you probably wouldn’t dare pick yourself: gold and red. The signature dishes are deviled eggs and tuna (RMB 48); slow-braised Australian wagyu beef short ribs and crushed taro (RMB 168); a mixed plate of Iberico ham and cheeses from Spain; as well as shredded duck leg confit (RMB 128).
