The Voice of the 21st Century Techno Era: MiroChina presents Marcel Fengler

On the evening of September 7th, the Swiss label MiroChina will bring Berlin Techno legend Marcel Fengler to ByeByeDisco Club for his debut performance in China.

Marcel Fengler has been hailed by Resident Advisor as the perfect Techno DJ, and FACT praises the meticulous craftsmanship in his productions. His music has earned him global respect and showcases his unique multifaceted personality. As early as 2005, he became one of the first resident DJs at Berlin's renowned Berghain/Panorama Bar. Over the past twenty years, Fengler has developed a dynamic and versatile DJ style that dominates the dance floor. He has a unique ability to flexibly manipulate rhythms in response to the atmosphere and energy of the crowd, drawing inspiration from various genres and styles, whether it’s hard industrial, breakbeats, dark undertones, melodic elements, or funky grooves. With a deep connection to the essence of music and an unrelenting pursuit of creative evolution, Marcel Fengler has crafted a compelling and unique narrative in the electronic music world.

At the beginning of the 21st century, Marcel Fengler emerged like a shooting star across the techno sky. He released his first single EP "Playground/Early Glow" on Ostgut Ton in 2007, followed by the "Thwack" EP on Mote Evolver in 2010. His debut album "Fokus," also released on Ostgut Ton, was like a bold statement filled with rich emotions and unexpected highs and lows, declaring to the world with open imagination: a young new star was shining brightly. The new sensations that Fengler brought to Techno music at that time were so special, with unique melodies, rhythms, and transitions where romance and fantasy coexisted, infused with endless fluidity and the emotional journey of continuous exploration. Not only did he become one of the pioneers of this revolutionary style, but he also laid the early foundation for the dominance of Hypnotic Techno on the dance floors over the next decade.

In 2011, Marcel Fengler founded the Index Marcel Fengler (IMF) label, marking a pivotal moment in his career. The label evolved alongside his timeless techno sound and became a creative hub for introducing young talents. He manages IMF with a special approach, creating a symbiotic ecosystem by pairing emerging electronic music creators with established, well-known remix artists. In this ecosystem, experience meets fresh creativity, fostering a creative community conducive to mutual growth. Meanwhile, this creative philosophy and spirit of exploration extended into his recent projects, with Fengler beginning another identity as AZUR in 2018, focusing on more melodic soundscapes. He delves deep into his creative psyche and methods, constantly expanding his artistic vision.

As a DJ and producer, Fengler is one of today's most exciting electronic artists. In his more than twenty-year career, Techno has been an unconditional and unwavering passion for Marcel Fengler. He doesn't limit himself to linear, one-dimensional sounds; instead, he continuously seeks new ways to refine his musical narrative, showcasing his true understanding of Techno. In the context of electronic music, often seen as a nighttime outlet for passion and restless energy, Marcel Fengler’s DJ narrative offers a unique journey, allowing people to experience that night music is not just a one-way release and consumption, but also a multi-dimensional exploration of sound, emotion, and interpersonal connections, bringing the feedback of these feelings back to the soul. Marcel Fengler’s Techno chronicle is an ongoing evolution, embracing change and new opportunities while always staying true to his artistic vision. This persistence and determination have established his identity and status as a Techno titan today, and his story shows us the transformative power of music: the resonance evoked when the sound of the soul reverberated through the industrial dance floors in the first decade of the 21st century was truly earth-shattering.

Duanluoo began splitting his identity as a DJ with the launch of the "Weather Forecast" series in early 2021. He is also an independent musician and producer. His playlists are primarily curated to please himself, as he is highly self-centered. A DJ who loves to sing, he only smiles when playing rock music.

Mohemann has a preference for calm and serious music, with a range spanning Ambient, Minimal, Techno, Deep, Dub, Hypnotic, Psychedelic, and Experimental genres. He explores the creative fusion of experimental electronic music and dance music, focusing on deep self-reflection and personal experience in musical expression. Through this, he seeks the infinite freedom of the mind and body within the confines of a finite timeline. He also hosts the Techno music event label and radio show "Tunnel."
