Hello, I am Henry from Canada and thanks for taking time to read through my introduction. It is great that you have reached out to me for me to be your English conversational tutor and I am here to walk you through my experience in the past working and living, and english teaching.

I spent some of my early years in Beijing but I went to high school in in the US, in Seattle, a place known for Microsoft and Amazon and Space needle. I took AP program and went to a top ranked liberal arts college in New England and recently studied law in the United Kingdom at King’s College London. Along with it, I also graduated with a senior diploma to translate for UK police and the law courts.

I have been teaching private students for the past five years in different areas I lived, for example, in Germany, in Japan, in Canada, and in Hong Kong. I have received very good review from many students who were able to see improved scores with their TOEFL, SAT, AP exams after having tutoring sessions with me.

在巴格达一所中学担任英语教师，后升任校长助理，参与制定教学计划，组织各类校内外活动；
在伊拉克宣传部下属的巴格达新闻中心任新闻翻译；
美伊战争时期，作为自由记者为多家巴格达通讯社工作，主要从事翻译、编辑、组稿、安排报道时间等工作，并为驻伊拉克的外国通讯社提供帮助，期间，接受了多家外国通讯社的采访；
作为伊拉克翻译协会的主要会员，与许多同行一道致力于发展伊拉克的翻译事业，增进了与外国同行的合作。

1998年7月-2003年8月：
在新华社国际部工作，进行英文至阿文的翻译、为阿文译稿润色和校正等工作；
期间，努力提高和培养自身在宣传工作、翻译领域的各项能力，帮助中国同事提高阿拉伯语水平，开展了多次阿拉伯语、阿语语法及阿语外宣工作原则相关的讲座等活动，在工作中也取得了切实的成绩，新华社阿语报道也实现了更好的发展；
为加深中阿友谊与合作，积极促进中国同事与驻京阿拉伯新闻从业人员的合作与交流。

2003年8月-2008年9月：
在中国国际广播电台阿文部工作，进行英文至阿文的翻译、为阿文译稿润色和校正等工作；
继续不断努力提高自身的外宣工作能力，帮助新同事提高阿语水平，参与了各种广播节目的制作，为国际台赢得更多的听众做出贡献；
积极推动阿中人民，尤其是伊中人民间传统友好关系的发展，同一些伊拉克青年一道努力，恢复建立了伊中友好协会，目前正致力于增加协会会员、增进他们对中国的了解和友谊等工作。

2008年3月-8月：
北京奥运会期间任奥组委阿拉伯语高级编辑

2009年9月-2017年8月：
中国外文局担任阿拉伯文部副主编，进行翻译、编辑、改稿等工作。完成了《三国演义》的翻译。

2017年8月-2021年12月：
新华社国际部担任阿语改稿专家，进行英文至阿文的翻译、为阿文译稿润色和校正等工作。

2021年12月-至今：
对外经济贸易大学任外语学院副教授，进行阿拉伯语言和文学等教学。

获奖情况：2014年获得中国政府友谊奖、2019年获得第十三届中华图书特殊贡献奖、2017年新华通讯社最佳外国员工奖、2014年伊拉克总理表彰证书、2013年中国外文出版发行事业局最佳外国员工奖、2009年中国国际广播新闻奖三等奖等。
