I've read a few relatively harsh reviews, so I'm wonding if perhaps Q Mex is under new management, as I went there Chinese New Year's day (evening) and thought it was pretty enjoyable. I ordered the wet burrito entree at the recommendation of the waiter, and thought it was tasty. Mind you this is far from high end or overly authentic Mexican cusine. But it's reasonably good, gringo-ized fare -- of a quality and type similar to what you'd get at your average Mexican or TexMex place in the US. Prices were likewise reasonable. There's a decent drinks menu featuriung draft beers and a variety of margarita choices. I have to say the latter were quite tasty and potent -- especially the frozen strawberry option (although you might prefer to stick to the perfectly good "classic" margarita as the former are quite a bit pricer -- I think something like 60rmb).
Sound system and music choices are excellent. QMex offers a lively, relaxed, fun -- but not ridiculously crazy -- atmosphere with a nice foreign/Chinese mix (I'd say about 60/40). Service was really excellent -- prompt, friendly, solicitious, courteous and efficient.
If you're looking for gourmet Mexican dining experience you won't find it at Q Mex. If you're looking for a fun night out and decent food with friends at an affordable price, it's well worth a visit.
