Hopson One Mall: Shuangjing's New Down-to-Earth Food Haven Home to Nearly 200 Restaurants
As we said last week when we first stepped into this new shopping mall, if WF Central is the wealthy kid in Wangfujing opening to fanfare and world-renowned brands, and China World Mall is the solid lunch spot perfect for white-collar workers, then Hopson One, the brand-new shopping mall located to the east of Jiulongshan subway station, is the down-to-earth and friendly neighbor with plenty of grounded dining options.
With the onward march of The Great Brickening that has smashed the Beijing dream of small business, people are seeking shelter in the many newly opened flash shopping malls. This eight-floor mall has over 130 eateries crammed into its two basement levels, let alone the dozen-plus restaurants on each floor from 4/F to 6/F. Keen to try them all? It looks like you’d have to get locked in and start eating non-stop day and night for months to even make inroads.
Unlike the other new malls with their luxury brands, Hopson One is relatively down to earth. High-fashion brands and an assortment of other stores are located on the first and second floor, including Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Sephora, Ugg, Zara Home, Vero Moda, Basic House, Mo&Co., JNBY, Chocolate, I.T., Ochirly, among others.
Kid’s wear and toys are found on the third floor, with the likes of Kidsland, Paper Pepper, Aimer Kids, Disney, Polo Sport Kids, Toys, Rookie, Babyland, Skechers Kids, Carter’s, Balabala, Anta Kids, Milibarn, Paul Frank Kids, Vowsoo, Kadamoo, Little Oasis, Piano, and a themed playland Eureka.
Those on the hunt for sportswear will want to head to the fourth floor, which is flush with brands such as Puma, Fila, New Balance, Kailas, Nike, Adidas, Vans, Crocs, Converse, Reeboks, and Onitsuka Tiger.
As for the food, highlights include Open Oven bakery, Yuet Da Sing Singaporean restaurant, Tang Stew House, HK Mai Chi Ling, and Duniang Hop Pot on B1. Aside from A Bu Noodles, which we visited last week, there is also Oumuni Chicken, Cheers, Mission Roll, Wudijia, Yunhaiyao, Gongcha milk tea, Yunhaiyao Yunnan cuisine, Yima Yila, Kung Hey Lei Cantonese restaurant, Satay King, Hey Young, VT’s Time Tea, Micat, Susongfu, Bon Cake, Holiland, and Nestgram in the 21st Block alone.
Other highlights around the mall are The Soup Kitchen, Xiaowu Kitchen, Tarhar Silk Road Xinjiang restaurant, Coucou Taiwanese hot pot, Yaoayao bbq, From Farm Japanese hot pot, Eatopia, Rong Cuisine, Milk Cover Tea, Pizza Marzano, Remicone, and Yi Long Xiao Que Xing, as well as a cinema on the fifth floor.
As one of the city's newest malls, Hopson One is performing well, with daily footfall volume reaching 60,000 on weekdays, and almost 80,000 on weekends, according to EEO. With an already dazzling array of food, beverage, and shopping choices on offer (and with many more set to open in the coming months), Hopson One is proving to be a promising destination for the Shuangjing tribes who don't want to stray too far from home and an increasingly attractive draw to the southeast of Beijing for the rest of us. Watch this space as we work our way through the offerings.
