Duck Fight Goose Return to the Capital With a Cocktail Party Reboot of Their 'CLVB ZVKVNFT'

D-Force Records isn't messing around. The label, founded in 2015 by one of China’s pioneering musical online platforms, Douban, has been making a name for itself thanks to a steady inflow of stellar artists and bands, old and new. Apparently, musicians are settling into D-Force's creative environment and finding comfort in expanding their sound. Case in point – Shanghai's electro-rock outfit Duck Fight Goose, who used the platform to completely shed their skin on their award-winning CLVB ZVKVNFT, an ambitious concept album that found the band transform into a high-tech, futuristic jazz ensemble entirely on its own wavelength. Now the band hits up Yugong Yishan this   Saturday, Jul 7, for an updated rendition of their dystopic sounds.

Having formed in 2009, Duck Fight Goose have evolved over the years largely on account of its two core members, Han Han and 33, becoming increasingly immersed in the technology behind their sound and our radically changing world. While their original cerebral indie rock sounds are nowhere to be found these days, newer tracks can best be described as "contemporary electronica with a human touch." A deft touch for mixing art with technology secured the band an invite to perform at the Google Developers Conference in Beijing in 2017. Earlier this year, the solo electronic projects of Han Han and 33 – Gooooose and 33EMYBW, respectively – were invited to perform at the world-renowned CTM Electronic Music Festival in Berlin.

For their ‘reboot’ of CLUB ZVKVNFT this weekend, the band has assured audiences that they’re in for a treat. Besides an "enhanced, spatially oriented sound design that will conjure an immersive audio environment to cloak each audience member in the thick digital mist of this singular sonic world," the band looks to up the ante by turning the venue into a futuristic club with a warm-up party, cocktails and snacks, and a 'green and silver' dress code to emulate Joel Schumacher's Batman days. Perhaps it's simply time to embrace our Sinofuture and giddily look toward our technological saviors; with Duck Fight Goose leading the choir, I’m all in.

Duck Fight Goose will perform this Saturday, Jul 7, at Yugong Yishan. Support is provided by up-and-coming ethereal electronic producer DVC. Tickets are RMB 120/160 or RMB 80/120 (students).
