Aug 9: Soul food feast with Tianmi Bakery
Join Tianmi Bakery for their first family-style soul food feast of 2020 at The Orchid Lodge this Sun, Aug 9. Enjoy a Sunday evening feast of hearty dishes like Southern fried chicken, barbecue pork ribs, and mac and cheese, finished off with one of Tianmi's famous bakes, a sour cream pound cake. Dinner is priced at RMB 218 per person; pay in advance and reserve your spot via Yoopay.
El Barrio launches new menu
El Barrio has launched a new menu of elevated Mexican cuisine created by newly-appointed executive chef Manuel Gutierrez. Gutierrez brings a refined approach honed during two years as executive chef of Latin fusion restaurant Azul Tapas in Shanghai. The colorful new dishes build on El Barrio's already-popular offerings, adding new twists and high-quality ingredients to nachos, tacos, fajitas, and more. Perhaps you'll want to start your meal with some flautas de carne (RMB 78, pictured above), or fried corn tortillas filled with smoked beef topped with red salsa, sour cream, black beans, pico de gallo, and pickled red cabbage. Steer away from tacos and opt instead for the hibiscus smoky barbecue ribs (RMB 158), which are served on a creamy corn puree and a fresh pineapple salsa.
Half-price daily specials at Beyond Yakitori, plus free-flow beer and sake
The first half of the week starts with a bang at Beyond Yakitori, with half-price deals on some of their most popular dishes. Monday is half-price Scotch eggs (a favorite of the Beijinger team), Tuesday is half-price wagyu beef skewers, and Wednesday is half-priced grilled chicken foie gras (what they call white foie gras). Wash that down with two hours of free-flow sake and Kirin draft beer, priced at just RMB 99 per person (available Monday to Wednesday, 6-9pm).
Daily deals at Pebbles
As alliterative tradition dictates, Tuesday is taco day at Pebbles. Get an extra taco with any order, meaning corn tortilla tacos now come with four and flour tortilla tacos now come with three. Pebbles also has deals on burritos on Wednesday and tortas on Thursday, all at RMB 10 off (the Milanesa torta, with breaded chicken, sliced avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, chipotle aioli, beans, and pickled red onions is out of this world). The deals are good for dine-in or delivery, but delivery must be ordered directly from Pebbles, not via a third-party delivery platform.
