Yun Brewing takeover at Prodigy
Prodigy Brewpub ring in the festive season with a tap takeover by seven new brews from warmer climes, namely, Yun Brewing in Kunming. Founded in 2016, the brewery has been making steady headway down south and this stands to be the largest offering of beers that Beijing has seen. Head over this Saturday and Sunday for a little something for everyone courtesy of Yun's Oriental Chill Pilsner (4.5 percent ABV), Volcano Wheat (4.5 percent ABV), New Blend Red Rice Porter (7.0 percent ABV), Idol Coffee Coco Double Bock (10 percent ABV), D Cup Saison (5 percent ABV(, Red Mood IPA (6.5 percent ABV), and the Business Always Good Raspberry Trippel (9.5 percent ABV). Hutong Pub Crawl returns
The Hutong Pub Crawl returns for its third installment this Saturday, Dec 26, for their latest booze-fueled trawl around Andingmen and Gulou. Starting at Side Street (pictured above) at 1pm, the group will wind its way to six other bars before ending up in Soi Baochao on Baochao Hutong, where there be sangria waiting for those that finish. Tickets cost RMB 80 and spaces are limited.
Christmas happy hour at Jing-A
To entice you to celebrate Christmas at Jing-A, all venues are offering diners happy hour prices on all beers all night for groups of four or more, including discounts on their Jing-A-Ling Christmas Ale and three new brews to shake off the winter chills: One Hop Policy - HBC 472 (5.2 percent ABV), Death by Coconut (6.5 percent ABV), and Passionfruit Bomb (4.7 percent ABV). Drinking Buddies Beer Club meetup
On Sunday, Dec 27, head to Glou for the December edition of the Drinking Buddies Beer Club meet up. Open to members and non-members alike, they'll showcase Drinking Buddies' full six-bottle December range with a taster glass of each beer, plus one free glass of draft beer. Attendees are also welcome to bring additional bottles if you’d like to share them with fellow geeks. Learn how to RSVP here.
Crafters do distilled
Finally, after news of several new beers last week, Crafters continue to keep themselves busy with the release of a limited release spirit made from a distillation of their IPA, witbier, APA, and DIPA. Only 288 bottles exist, and as a special treat to their fans, it's discounted to RMB 245 until the end of the year and can be purchased via Taobao. On that boozy note, Merry Christmas, Beijing!
