How You Can Donate to Help Disaster Relief in Turkey, Syria
On Monday, Feb 6, a magnitude-7.7 earthquake hit parts of Turkey and Syria which has resulted in over 15,000 deaths in both countries with the WHO projecting 23 million people to be affected by the disaster, according to a CNN report from this morning, Feb 9.
The Turkish and Syrian communities in China have reached out and are in the process of collecting funds and providing aid to both countries. Here’s how you can lend a hand:
The Turkish community in Beijing is collecting donations with the help of the Turkish Consulate-General in Guangzhou and Turkish Airlines to provide food, water, temporary shelter and other necessities to families affected by the earthquake.

Due to the earthquake happening during the ongoing conflict in Syria, the situation there is a little more complex.

Another organization seeking donations to help with humanitarian and rescue efforts in both Syria and Turkey is the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Society, which has launched an appeal to raise 200 million Swiss Francs (over RMB 1 billion).
