Slowboat's Limited CNY IPA Gift Box
Slowboat are doing a beautiful red and gold dragon themed beer gift box complete with specially designed red and gold dragon themed cans as well. Nestled inside the box are four 330ml cans of Slowboat beer, a limited edition Slowboat glass decorated with, you guessed it, a dragon and some Slowboat hongbaos. Of the beers included, we are especially excited about the Monkey’s Fist Imperial IPA, a hefty 10 percent ABV it’s a pumped up version of their regular Monkey’s Fist IPA featuring a blend of Mosaic and Citra hops and has just recently returned to the taps at Slowboat.
The box can be purchased at any Slowboat branch or if you’d rather get it delivered straight to your door it can also be bought on Slowboat’s Taobao account. To buy on Taobao, simply save the photo below and then open Taobao and use the scan photo feature, select the photo and then voila purchase away!

Wild Kite’s CNY Beer Gift Box
Another delightful looking box, Wild Kite’s CNY beer gift box is a lovely deep blue adorned with a white flower motif sealed with a red and yellow sleeve with some friendly looking dragons on it. Included in this box is a selection of six 440ml cans of Wild Kite’s Australian brews, a Wild Kite glass, a Wild Kite Badge and some Wild Kite hongbaos.
Two beers in the box that we are particularly intrigued about are Huang Huang's Submarine DDH IPA, a fruity number with notes of citrus, lemon tropical fruit and mango and Off The Clock XPA, a tropical super pale ale that’s light and crisp. Peiping Machine’s Dragon Gift Box and Phoenix Gift Box
Peiping Machine has two different New Year gift boxes up for grabs, one called the Dragon Gift Box and one called the Phoenix Gift Box. They are both decorated in a mahjong themed red and green on white in reference to the popular game which is often played by families over Chinese New Year.
Each box contains six different 330ml cans of some of their signature brews. The Dragon Gift Box features more IPAs along with their Imperial Lager and Pre-Ming Longjing Wheat, whereas the Phoenix Box has more wheat and goose beers as well as a Chocolate Milk Stout and Smoked Black Plum Ale.
The box can either be purchased directly in store or through their WeChat miniprogram or Taobao (for both search: 北平机器PEIPING MACHINE).

BONUS: Great Leap Last Man Standing Challenge
Now, this one isn’t a Chinese New Year beer gift box, but there is the opportunity to get a free case of beer … if you and a partner manage to drink the whole thing! Introducing Great Leap's Last Man Standing Challenge, in which a team of two takes on one case (24 330ml cans) of Backhouse Pilsner.
Teams can be formed of either two challengers or multiples of two and half the team needs to be female. Challengers have until closing to finish the case and those who are successful will get the case free of charge! Any unsuccessful challengers fear not, they’ll receive the case at the discounted price of RMB 144 and are free to take anything that’s left home with them. The challenge is taking place for the whole of January and you need to sign up for the challenge in advance.
